Digital Skills Development
Digital Skills Development
We equip African girls with practical, in-demand digital and technical skills needed to thrive in the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). Our curriculum is hands-on, inclusive, and locally relevant while being globally aligned to current industry standards. Girls are trained to not just use technology, but to understand, innovate, and lead with it. Our core focus areas include:
Coding & Programming
Foundational and advanced training in programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python, enabling girls to build websites, apps, games, and software systems.
Robotics & IoT (Internet of Things)
Using mechanical and electronic components, girls learn how to build smart machines, automate tasks, and design tech-driven solutions for energy, agriculture, and security.
Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning
Girls explore concepts like data labelling, natural language processing, computer vision, and the ethical implications of AI, with African use-case applications in health, education, and agriculture.
UI/UX Design
Hands-on sessions in user research, wireframing, and prototyping using design tools like Figma. We teach how to build user-centred digital products that are beautiful, functional, and accessible.
Web & Mobile App Development
From front-end to full-stack development, girls build responsive websites and mobile applications using both code and no-code tools (e.g., WordPress, Flutter, React, etc.).
Data Analytics & Visualization
Girls learn how to collect, clean, and analyze data using Excel, Google Sheets, Power BI, and Python, empowering them to extract insights, create dashboards, and make data-driven decisions.
Cybersecurity & Digital Safety
Girls are trained on how to protect systems, data, and identities in the digital space. Modules include:
• Threat detection and prevention
• Online privacy management
• Secure passwords and authentication
• Cyber hygiene for individuals and startups
• Understanding common scams, phishing, and social engineering
Data Protection & Digital Rights
We emphasize compliance and ethics in handling personal and organizational data. Girls learn about:
• The Nigerian Data Protection Act (NDPA) and other African data laws
• GDPR principles and how they affect digital platforms
• The rights of users in the digital economy
• Consent, confidentiality, and safe data practices
Cloud Tools & Digital Productivity
Training on tools such as Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Canva, Trello, Notion, and other platforms that support digital collaboration, project management, content creation, and business operations.
Cloud Computing
Including training in cloud infrastructure, deployment models, serverless computing, and cloud security essentials (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC)
Training in IT governance frameworks, risk identification, regulatory compliance (e.g., NDPA, GDPR), and organizational data ethics.
Intro to Emerging Technologies
Exposure to 4IR technologies such as blockchain, augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), drone tech, and quantum computing, to broaden awareness and ignite innovation.
By the end of each learning cycle, NGiT girls are job-ready, startup-ready, and future-ready, equipped to contribute meaningfully to Africa’s tech and innovation ecosystem. We aim to make girls job-ready, startup-ready, and future-ready.
